Ambiguous means that something is

• not clear so therefore it can be understood in more than one way
• not exact so it can have several meanings or interpretations
• confusing so it is difficult to understand

Here are sentence examples:

1. If team roles are ambiguous, team members may argue over who should do certain tasks.
2. She gave an ambiguous answer when I asked if she liked this design.
3. Because the guidelines were too ambiguous, employees found ways to bend the rules.
