In this episode I disassemble "Bad Larry", my 1973 Porsche 911 Targa (Viper Green). This air-cooled Porsche is special to me for several reasons. It was a car that had been used as a vintage race car for somewhere around 30 years. I bought it in Texas and trailers the car home to southern California.

In Part 1 of this build series I cut the roll cage out of the car. If you haven't seen that video, I provide a bit more information and back story on the car. I have one other video on my channel that introduced the car.

My plan was to do all the work on this car myself. I got my tape measure out and realized my car just was not straight enough to continue without correcting that problem. I don't have a lot of experience welding, and ultimately decided the best thing to do was to have the car put on a Celette Bench in order to get the car 100% straight and square. Time is also a big issue, so I'm going to let the pros at Perfect Lines Restoration complete the metal work.

I decided to bring this car back from a race car to a road car simply because I want to be able to use the car at the track and on the street. I mostly drive my cars in local canyons, and on road trips. Track days are really fun, but not something I can do all the time.

In this video I roughly show the steps to remove the engine and transmission. Its a pretty simple process on these cars if you haven't done it before.
