In this video, I showcase a stunning South American blackwater biotope aquarium, inspired by the Rio Yaguarón, a river that flows along the border between Uruguay and Brazil. This aquascape aims to faithfully replicate the natural habitat of several native fish species, using driftwood, smooth stones, fine sand, and tannin-rich amber water.

• 🐟 Australoheros sp. “Red Ceibal”: a fascinating and rarely seen South American cichlid from Uruguay, territorial yet captivating when kept as a bonded pair.
• 🐠 Hemigrammus caudovittatus (Buenos Aires Tetra): a hardy and active characin, often underrated, but perfect for this kind of biotope.
