"ฟื้นฟูป่า ฟื้นฟูเรา" / “By restoring the forest, we restore ourselves” Kenneth Rimdahl / เคนเน็ธ ริมดอล

The ancient teas originated deep in the forests of the mountain chain from Assam in India to Yunnan in China, passing Burma, Laos, Vietnam and Thailand This is where Kenneth aims to sustainably grow local tea and conserve forests He believes that by living in accord with nature’s laws, nature will support us into the future

It was Per who first told Kenneth about the existence of wild tea. Parallel to the expansion of the East West Company, Spain, of which Kenneth later became a co-owner, he began traveling the tea world to expand his knowledge and find the elusive wild tea. His journey took him to the best tea-producing areas in China, India and Japan.

His travels finally led him to Thailand, impressed by the unique and remarkable flavor of Miang (fermented tea leaves from wild and free-grown tea plants enjoyed by Thai mountain dwellers for centuries) and the sustainable way it is grown, Kenneth started a new enterprise called Monsoon Tea in 2013, aiming to make it a center for spreading knowledge and development of sustainable tea production. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
