00:00 - Talk to Laguna about all the available dialogue options to find out about the upcoming mission. After listening to the backstory and the mission details, talk to Laguna again and tell him you will do it. You will automatically board the Ragnarok to get the final details.
11:55 - Now, you can continue on with the story if you like. However, the Ragnarok opens up a few new areas we couldn't get to before now. First, let's head to the small desert island east of the
Centra Kaskabald Desert. In the menu this should say Cactuar Island.
13:40 - You will notice the Cactuar that keeps popping up out of the sand. This is the nect GF Boss Jumbo Cactuar. Check your junctions, make sure to junction Water magic to Elemental Attack, and remove the Mug ability). Then, run into the Cactuar to start the battle.
15:50 - With Water Junctioned to Elemental Attack, you should be hitting some high attack numbers. Jumbo Cactuar's HP is pretty high no matter what level your party is at and there is a time limit element to this battle. Make sure you don't use Mug as the Gaea's Ring item will be dropped at the end of the battle, and you can only steal Cactuar Thorns. Start the battle by casting Meltdown to reduce it's defenses, the boss has this for you to draw and cast on it. Get into Limit Break mode by using Aura on your characters, and use Renzokuken, Shot, or Duel preferably to deal quick and high damage. Watch out for it's 10000 needles attack, which inflicts exactly 10000 damage on one party member, with a 100% chance of hitting. Be ready with a Life and another Aura if this happens.
When Jumbo Cactuar falls below 5% of it's HP. A message will pop up "Jumbo Cactuar is hesitating", which means it's about to escape. If it falls below 2% of it's HP and is still up, it will flee from battle, and recover all of it's HP again. When the message pops up, hit it with a Renzokuken or something that deals similar damage to end the battle quickly. It will drop a Gaea's Ring item at the end of the battle.
19:40 - Make sure to juntion the new GF Cactuar to a party member. It has the 5 Bonus Abilities learnt, which are great for leveling up characters. Make sure you start to learn Luck-J or Eva-J, then Luck+50% and Initiative next.
20:45 - Next, we're going to find the next GF. Head to the lower left corner of the worldmap and look around for a small island with a structure on it. This is the Deep Sea Research Center. Land and enter the Deep Sea Research Center with your party. If you have Zell with you, he will give you some information about it. Make sure to check your junctions as there are some tough battles here.
22:45 - Inside, your goal is to approach the flashing core in the middle. However, you can only
start walking if the core isn't flashing. If the light's on and you start walking, you will instantly get into a battle. Take your time and only move when the light has stopped to get to the core.
25:00 - When you get to the core, pick the following answer: "It's not our will to fight" and you will start a battle against a Ruby Dragon. Then choose "Never" for another battle against a Ruby Dragon, this time it will be a back attack. Finally choose the hidden option below the other two: "It's our nature" and you will start the battle against the GF Bahamut.
29:30 - Bahamut is a strong Boss at the stage, but there are a few things you can do to make it easier. Start by casting Blind on Bahamut, followed by Slow. It's also recommended to cast Shell on all three party members and keep it on. You can use Cerberus to cast Triple on everyone to help with this. Cast Haste on all party members too and again, make sure you keep this on. Now you only have to worry about his Mega Flare attack. Quickly defeat him with limit breaks if you have low HP as it will do a few thousand damage to each party member. Shell will help cut some of this down.
If you get time to draw magic from him, make sure you take advantage of his Flare, Curaga, Full-life, and Dispel magic at any level. He will drop a Hyper Wrist item after the battle.
37:00 - Bahamut will join the party. He has another Mug ability and Auto-Protect. If you are modding cards, the Bahamut Card can be modded into 100 Megalixirs.
Exit to the Ragnarok, and go to the passenger room. Now, you can enter the deeper levels of the Deep Sea Research Center. At the end you can find Ultima Weapon, from which you can draw the GF Eden, get the Eden Card, and get 100 Ultima Stones. You can also draw Ultima from it. However, it's possible to get fixed encounters here if you don't defeat the Ultima Weapon. As these encounters include Tri-Faces, which drop Curse Spikes, this is the perfect place for farming those items. It's up to you if you want to defeat the Ultima Weapon or not.
For now, head over to Edea's house to save the game as we are going to continue with some other side quests first.
