During the Congo Crisis, Sweden was asked by the UN to supply troops for peacekeeping in the area. During the period 1960-64 Sweden had a steady presence in the country with both ground troops and fighter jets. There was heavy fighting throughout the mission and it turned into Sweden’s deadliest military mission in over 200 years, with 19 dead and many more wounded.
