Metal detecting a cellar hole that has never been metal detected before the place was loaded with relics and coins. I took my Fisher F19 metal detector out to find this old colonial settlers site way out in the woods. When I got there I was digging signals within seconds and the second plug was a King George II coin so I knew the place was virgin. All around the cellar hole were buttons, a knee buckle, a beautiful key hole escutcheon and more. But the most puzzling artifact I dug today was a button that looks like the 1785 US bar cent with 13 bars. Is this from the American revolution war ? The design of the bar cent was inspired by the continental army uniform buttons. One side had the big USA and the other was the 13 bars or stripes. Finding and early American settlers site like this in New England is rare and finding all them 1700s relics and artifacts is just plain wonderful.
