T. Stirmi, NOT Theraphosa apophysis (Read the Description!)

Well, my quest to find an apophysis will continue. An eagle-eyed view (and one who has kept the three stirmi species) was nice enough to point out that he thought this spider was actually a T. stirmi. I was pretty confident that this wasn't the case at first, as Jamie had told me that before their last molts, these had pink toes (which I assumed were on ALL of the feet). I contacted Jamie and, after some investigating, we discovered that she had been sent the wrong species. She dug up photos and discovered that they only had pink toes on the first two sets of walking legs, which meant it was a stirmi. Also, upon closer examination, it was obvious that this spider didn't have hair on its knees. Again, NOT an apophysis. As for the gangly appearance, its small abdomen likely lead to that look.

Oh well.

Jamie was quick to contact everyone who bought one, and I was offered a full refund or generous store credit.

A HUGE thank you to PJ who was nice enough to point this out. To see a real apophysis, check out his channel:    / muzzik2016
