This is the sequence for life with Veronica as your sworn companion. In the original game you could only choose Gemma and that was a marriage. Thus people (for want of a better term) refer to these scenes as "marriage". Actually the relationship is based on who they are to you in the game. You could choose to live with Erik as best friends for instance. This is therefore not a marriage! (Even in Gemma's case you sleep in separate beds but you get a wedding photo.)

As is made plain throughout the game, Veronica is older than she appears. Even the contents of this video confirm her as older than the protagonist. People convey the wish to have her here in her adult form and I totally relate to that! However that would create a problem as she still appears as a child later than this in the game.
