What happened here, was one of the FIRST Barney Errors to have ever appeared on mobile devices. The Apple Newton and PalmPilot Personal and Professional versions were both targets of the Barney Error. By 1997, Barney Error technology had finally been ported to certain Personal Digital Assistants ("PDA"s) And a PDA could easily catch one by simply having a WiFi card attached to it and working. The Newton's display really was in Black in White with 16 shades, so, the Barney Errors where obviously in B&W (for real).

The PDA Barney Errors happened just in time for Season 4 of "Barney & Friends" to have ended with it's last episode for that season airing that day on PBS stations. So the Barney Error referenced that by telling the user that Barney was "sad" that his season ended, and that you had to "respect" that by not turning off your system.

This particular Barney Error occurred on an eMate 300 (an educational Laptop version of the Newton), while the user (a student from Go!Animate Elementary, Hollywood, California (Now Vyond Elementary Hollywood), was trying to do some work that would be sent of through the eMate 300 to his teacher's Windows NT 4.0 Advanced Server computer. Student happened to have accidentally turned on his Go!Camera InnerCapture Device that records the inside of a Machine and converts the footage to a VHS tape.

This was also an early appearance of the "ULTRA PUNISHMENT" that made its debut on some Barney Errors in 1995
