Q.
The player’s stroke has left the ball at rest on top of a leaf. How does the player proceed?

A.
The player may play it as it lies, or they may remove the leaf and place the ball on the putting green directly below where it was sitting on the leaf.
When your ball is at rest on the putting green, any movement of the ball as a result of a player reasonably removing a loose impediment, would not incur a penalty.
The best way to deal with this situation is to stick a marker on the putting green under the leaf to give you a good idea of where the ball will need to be placed. Then lift the ball, remove the loose impediment and place the ball. You may clean the ball if you wish.
