Buongiorno and welcome in Milan for Milan Fashion Week Spring Summer 2024 review!

I'm Francesca, a French fashion journalist and fashion video editor specialized in Fashion Week and based in Paris, and this is my up-close and personal review of the Spring Summer 2024 Ready-to-wear Milan Fashion Week!

If you are new to this channel, welcome and please let me introduce you my methodology to provide these Fashion Trends Reviews I edit after every season of Fashion Week. First things first: you might not be used to the fashion universe, and you have no idea of what a Fashion Week is. Fashion Week is an event during which the most exclusive fashion designers and fashion houses unveil their collections for the upcoming seasons in a series of runway shows and presentations to buyers and media influencing the fashion industry. It is the most important performance of the fashion industry as these collections define the upcoming fashion trends and influence the entire production line of the fashion trade and probably other industries.

To be in a position to define these Fashion Trends Reviews, I scrupulously attend to every show personally or digitally. New York, London, Milan and Paris, that means more than a thousand fashion shows depending on the season. Then, it is my expertise and experience in fashion which allow me to understand and define the upcoming fashion trends, and decode the evolution of the fashion designers, fashion houses and collections of each Fashion Week based on my understanding and knowledge of the evolution of fashion.

This Milan Fashion Week was highly anticipated with Sabato De Sarno's debut collection for Gucci. And for good reason! We knew that the newly appointed Creative Director previously worked at Dolce and Gabbana, Prada and Valentino; but we didn't know what to expect for Sabato de Sarno's new era's inauguration at Gucci. Dramatically different from his predecessor Alessandro Michele's maximalism and opulence in the creativeness, the first silhouettes give the tone of the elegance of the simplicity of a collection playing up with Gucci's roots and heritage codes. The message is more than perspicuous: "I want people to fall in love with Gucci again", said Sabato De Sarno. The message is visually powerful with an alluring deep red taking over the streets, tramways and monuments of Milan, announcing only one bold word "Anchora", and marking the reset of the iconic Italian brand and Sabato de Sarno's debut at Gucci.

This Milan Spring Summer 2024 Fashion Week also embraced the first collection of Peter Hawkings at Tom Ford. And what a challenge to succeed to Tom Ford at Tom Ford! After 25 years spent alongside Tom Ford, Peter Hawkings couldn't have best master and was surely the perfect candidate as new Creative Director to confidently pursue the requirement of the excellence of the craftsmanship through a debut collection in alignment with the values of the eponymous brand. With a collection we could entitle "life is a party", the keys of the sexiness, glamour and confidence of the Italian empire is surely in very good hands!

Last but not the least, Walter Chiapponi presented his last collection as Creative Director at Tod's which was an ode the Italian craftsmanship.
