This was a sloppy run, considering there were two deaths among other mistakes, but a few tricks I knew about helped me score 4 minutes over the previous World Record time. Namely skipping the second phase of the Gear boss, saving my melody shells to spam the Ninja Star against the Guard Boss, and a one-cycle for Plankton (tho I wasn't quick enough and it ended up being a two-cycle this time). I feel like getting under 1'10'00 is possible with better optimization.
