Mario Kart 64 - Four-Player 150cc VS Mode (Actual N64 Capture)

Описание к видео Mario Kart 64 - Four-Player 150cc VS Mode (Actual N64 Capture)

This is a capture of me and three friends playing the 150cc VS Mode in Mario Kart 64 on the Nintendo 64. This is not an emulator and was not played on the Wii Virtual Console. This footage was captured directly from my Nintendo 64 using an actual Mario Kart 64 cartridge. I'm player one, Luke is player two, Michael is player three and John is player four.

After we did the Battle Mode we felt like doing some races too so we did some 150cc VS Mode against each other. One of the things we remembered during this session (and something you'll probably notice too) is that the game moves way faster on certain tracks. Not only do the karts go faster, but the countdown in the beginning goes faster too (seriously, compare Yoshi Valley to any other course. The same thing goes with the Skyscraper battle course). It must have something to do with the system's inconsistent frame rates. I actually had trouble controlling my kart because of that (and this game already has the worst controls in the Mario Kart series). Old games sure have their quirks.

We didn't race every course, but here's a track list if you want to skip to specific courses:

Moo Moo Farm - 0:18
Koopa Troopa Beach - 2:36
Kalimari Desert - 5:10
Mario Raceway - 8:27
Wario Stadium - 10:40
Sherbet Land - 15:45
Bowser's Castle - 18:48
Yoshi Valley - 22:19
Rainbow Road - 25:49

Recorded with the Hauppauge HD PVR and an S-video connection. I used a Toshiba model D-R550 DVD Recorder to upconvert the N64's native 240p signal to 480i so that the Hauppauge could capture the console's audio/video signal.

I'm using an Arcade Shark joystick, Luke is using a Sharkpad Pro 64 turbo controller, and Michael and John are using standard Nintendo 64 controllers.
