Robert Wlérick, "Femme nue debout, Rolande", 1936-1942, bronze
To this work, which exemplifies his attachment to the female figure, the sculptor gives the first name of his model, Rolande. In 1937, WLERICK originally designed the project for a 5 meter high statue, symbol of France. He sculpts plaster sketches in around ten different states. Two enlargements are made in bronze, one 84 cm high and the other 125 cm. The latter is located in the Albert MICHALLON park, thus echoing the sculpture Torso of a Woman, Cécile by Léon Ernest DRIVIER.
