Black fountain pen ink comparison - what to look for

If you want to start sketching using a fountain pen, you are going to need to understand all about fountain pen ink. It's different from drawing ink and if you put the wrong one in your pen, you might clog it up and even ruin it for ever. Most urban sketchers are looking for a black fountain pen ink, so in this short film we will look at the three types you might consider. Understanding your materials means that you can predict what they will do and there won't be any horrible surprises further down the road.

First there is standard fountain pen ink - Quink ink, something like that. Then we look at waterproof fountain pen inks such as Platinum Carbon ink and finally we consider registrar's or document ink. I'll do a quick drawing with each so you can see what's going on.
