Giri Valam With Arunachala Stuti Panchakam

Описание к видео Giri Valam With Arunachala Stuti Panchakam

This is the second version of the original Giri Pradakshina Video uploaded by me on Nov.6, 2019, which is available at :   • Giri Pradakshina Or Circumambulation ...
The MAJOR change (along with some minor video changes) is a new audio track consisting of 'Arunachala Stuti Panchakam' of Bhagavan Ramana Maharshi (total of six poems) and 'Ánnamalai Venba' of Guru Namassivayar.

The video is about pradakshina of the holy Hill 'Arunachala', in Tiruvannamalai, India. The pradakshina is about 14 Kms and normally takes around 3-4 hours on foot, which is how devotees perform it. It is done keeping the Hill always to the right hand side. Strangely, the mountain seems to sport different peaks at various points of the route.
The glory of Arunachala is described in the Hindu text of 'Arunachala Puranam'. The Hill is a symbol of spirituality/Reality. It is considered to be the manifestation of Lord Shiva himself (while Mount Kailash is said to be seat of the Lord). It's origins are rooted in the beginnings of time (there is a puranic story behind it). Archeologically it is found to predate the Himalayas.
The pradkashina of this Hill instills in one not only spiritual benefits but also health benefits, due to various medicinal herbs growing on it.
For the sage of Arunachala, Sri Ramana Maharshi, the Hill was his beloved Guru and he had extolled the virtues of Giri Pradakshina to the devotees, as of immense spiritual value.
Even today one can enjoy the serenity going around the Hill, for most parts. Lakhs of devotees perform the circumbulation every full moon day. The full moon day in the auspicious month Kartigai, which falls during the world famous Kartigai festival in Tiruvannamalai (November-December), draws pilgrims in tens of lakhs. However, any and every day and on special occassions, people do the pradakshina.
I have tried to present the beauty of the pradakshina of Arunachala through this video taken with an action camera mounted on my scooter. I have highlighted the landmark 'Ashta Lingas' (i.e., the Lingas representing the eight cardinal directions) and some small shrines along the way.
Hope all enjoy the presentation, especially the devotees of Arunachala.
Om Namo Bhagavate Sri Ramanaya.

All audio tracks were chanted by Sri J.Jayaraman @ Sri Ramanasramam, in his inimitable style.
