"Dippermouth Blues" - Joe "King" Oliver/Louis Armstrong, arr. Wycliffe Gordon

Once again, The United States Air Force Band's Airmen of Note are thrilled to share another special collaboration with American jazz trombone virtuoso, composer, and arranger, Wycliffe Gordon!

Wycliffe is a prolific recording artist and is extremely popular for his unmatched signature sound, plunger technique, and unique vocals. The Airmen of Note recorded some of Mr. Gordon's fast moving charts for our 2022 Jazz Heritage Series and Mr. Gordon delivered! In addition to Mr. Gordon, this chart will feature many soloists from the Airmen of Note. While "Dippermouth Blues" is deeply rooted in swing, this arrangement pays homage to the earliest of traditions in New Orleans society music from the swing era of the big bands to the street beats of the modern day second line street bands.
