Heavy rains collapsed a bridge and killed two people in Kangra in India's northern state of Himachal Pradesh, an official said on August 20, 2022.

Meanwhile, flood victims in the eastern state of Odisha ate at a relief camp and were assisted at a flood shelter in the city of Jagatsinghpur.

Seasonal monsoon rains from June to September cause deaths and mass displacement across South Asia every year, but they also deliver more than 70% of India's rainfall and are crucial for farmers.
