Did not sleep well last night so a late 08:30 start today. A chilly damp morning. Very strong breeze with what feels like 'wet' air but thankfully no actual rain.
Much of the morning was following the L'Aixette River. Very difficult to photograph as the foliage was very thick.
Walking by the river you pass a series of old mills that are now converted to houses. Looks to be an upmarket area with some great restorations.
Out of the valley, back through farmland with a brunch stop at Saint-Martin-le-Vieux to continue on past the impressive Chateau de Lajudie. The rest of the day is on small farm roads.
My accomodation is at an English couples house at Le Dognon it is off the marked route a couple of km or so East of Les Cars. Only a few houses in this little hamlet on top of a hill.
I have a very comfortable private bedroom with great ensuite bathroom and my own furnished garden retreat to use. Eur 12.50 AUD $20 with breakfast. Past pilgrims looking after pilgrims.
I am already well off the route here so will not be following the marked route at all tomorrow, but rather following my nose and just heading across country directly to La Coquille.
