Through the Kampungs – A Medley of Malaysian Folk Tunes (Arr. Timmy Lim)

My new arrangement made it's premiere last night at KS Strings PJ with the musical members of The Cello Choir, and our international superstar Mr. Jonathan Weigle!

The Malay word “Kampung” translates to ‘village’ or more commonly known as ‘hometown’ through informal speaking. For many Malaysians, our kampung is a representation of nostalgia, comfort, and home as most of us grew up in those settings during our childhood. The scenic greens and flavourful meals brought peace and serenity for the community and naturally, many folk tunes are written in association with our kampungs, and it developed into a sense of musical identity for the Malaysian citizens. Travel through variations and classical interpretation on the works of our country and enjoy the sights back home. The arrangement consists of well-known tunes like Rasa Sayang, Lenggang Kangkung, Burung Kakak Tua and Eh Wau Bulan.
