DIY self watering pots - Ideas for Orchids, African Violets & more!

Since I wasn't able to do much over the past few days I didn't want to be completely useless and tried a few more variations of the DIY self watering pots, as many of you were excited with the idea!

Recently I am experimenting with some self watering options for my very water loving orchids, as even semi hydro can become a bit of a hassle, especially when you are conserving water. here are the Lechuza pots    • Trying Lechuza self watering system w...   and one a DIY I tried with LECA    • DIY self watering pot for my Orchid! ...  

I thought of a few more ways in which one could DIY such a project and try it out, with pots or containers you might already have, or that you can find at your local flower shops or even IKEA!

The one I like most uses an inner bowl from IKEA called SOMMAR https://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/pr... which seems to fit well in a standard sized decorative pot, be it plastic or ceramic!

Other ideas include proper plant pots and decorative containers, so I think you can be as creative as you want. As a wick I am using Synthic, but microfiber strands should work just as well!
