How to Receive Holy Communion

Greetings Families,
Your children is about to receive their First Holy Communion. Here are 8 easy steps for your kids to remember! Feel free to replay this as many times as you need.

STEPS 1-8:
1) THE WALK OF SAINTS
2) HANDS TOGETHER
3) BOW BEFORE THE KING
4) HANDS UP!
5) THE BODY OF CHRIST & AMEN!
6) RECEIVING
7) WALK BACK
8) PRAY AND REFLECT

(Remember everyone who receives Holy Communion must have confessed any mortal sins in the Sacrament of Reconciliation prior to Mass.)

Clarification: According to the General Instruction of the Roman Missal (GIRM) no. 160, "When receiving Holy Communion, the communicant bows his or her head before the Sacrament as a gesture of reverence and receives the Body of the Lord from the minister. The consecrated host may be received either on the tongue or in the hand, at the discretion of each communicant. When Holy Communion is received under both kinds, the sign of reverence is also made before receiving the Precious Blood."
