Shhh… today I’m sharing an off-the-beaten-path Napa winery that you need to know about: . I loved visiting here so much, it’s almost too good to share!

Overlooking St. Helena, high up on the western ridge of Howell Mountain, the Arkenstone Estate rises from 1400 ft. to over 1650 ft. of elevation. With amazing, sweeping views looking over Napa Valley to the South, Spring Mountain to the West, the wild, forested Bell Canyon to the North, and Mount St. Helena beyond, Arkenstone is a panoramic perch.

The family has been farming grapes in this unique locale since purchasing the property in 1988.

In Napa, I’ve found that there are certain estates that hold a little bit of something special, an intangible magic in the air that just feels like *more*. Arkenstone has that.

And it certainly shows in their wines.

I was absolutely blown away by their lineup. Their portfolio includes bold, intense, and romantic wines that span Estate Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, and Sauv Blanc and Single-Vineyard Cabs sourced from prolific Napa growers.

Their Syrah, in particular, and surprisingly, was my favorite. I’m still dreaming of this robust, full-bodied wine with unmatched depth and fullness and an elegant, silky finish. While fruit-forward, it had an undertone of fresh summer garden herbs like sage and rosemary, with an undeniable dash of something meaty. It paired perfectly at home with our wild boar pasta.
