Harper tells us that, to fully understand how Satan pulled off his grand scheme, one needs to understand how he attacked the nineteenth-century Church. Darby caused controversy in the Church related to his literal interpretation of the Scriptures because Satan wanted Dispensationalism firmly fixed in the minds of True Believers. And to do that, he had to get to the segment of the Church that was experiencing revival. Once Satan accomplished that, he could lead the conservative evangelical wing of the Protestant Church down the path he had chosen for it.
