"El Signo de los Cuatro" es la segunda novela protagonizada por Sherlock Holmes. La novela apareció por primera vez en la edición de febrero de 1890 de la revista mensual de Lippincott como "El Signo de los Cuatro" o "El Problema de los Sholto" en sendas ediciones en Londres y Filadelfia. Fue publicada en forma de libro en octubre de 1890 por Spencer Blackett usando el título "El Signo de los Cuatro".
