In today’s video, I am going to show you the right way to search for Instagram influencers to market your products. This topic is very important especially for those that are on a low budget and want to start Shopify dropshipping in the cheapest way possible. Don’t do the mistakes I made at first and I got SCAMMED by an influencer with 1M+ followers and I got 0 SALES.

Let’s start:

First thing, how many followers should your influencer have? Personally, for me I search influencers with at least 50k followers, less than that is just not worth your money because your reach will be very low. Keep in mind that the conversion rates from Instagram are much lower than on Facebook ads from my experience so this is why we want to aim for 50k followers as our minimum requirement.

How do we find the influencers? It is very easy, all you need to do is to find at least one influencer in your product’s niche and make sure your product will be a good fit for this page. To find the first page to begin your research, search for related hashtags in that niche and check the top posts for our targeted pages. After you found a good page with at least 50k followers click on the “suggested for you” arrow and this way Instagram will suggest more pages similar to the one you opened.

Now, finding the influencers alone it’s not enough, we want to make sure those are good pages to pay them money to promote our products. The way to do it’s very simple, you want to scroll their feed and see what is the engagement rate compared to their page size, a good percentage will be 2-10%. It is very easy to see if the followers are fake or not, and this is why we look at the engagement for every page. Now, even if we see that the number of likes and comments is good enough, it’s still not the end of the process. As I said before, buying fake engagement it’s very cheap and easy to do, so we want to make sure their audience is real and not just bots/DM groups. We want to see that the comments on the posts are real engaged people and not comments like “great post”, “keep it up”, “I love your profile” etc. If these are the main type of comments they receive on their post, stay away from them as far as possible! You better give this money to homeless people because you won’t get any results.

After we found our potential influencer, we need to know how to contact them properly so they will answer faster. I will drop some examples of ways I reach out to influencers. You want to get straight to the point and don’t say things like “Hi there” or “what’s up”. Those influencers, especially the good ones get tons of messages every day and a lot of spam as well so let them know straight away that you want to do business, don’t be shy.

So, we found a good influencer with 50k+ followers, we confirmed that their engagement is real, we reached out in the proper way and got a quick reply, so that’s it right? NO
This is a HUGE mistake people that are just starting off doing. How can you tell if their audience is actually your potential customers? Let’s say you sell a product for women and 90% or more of their audience is male, or let’s say you shipping orders only to the US and EU but the majority of their audience is Brazil or Indonesia? If that will be the case you are basically screwed. So the solution to that is very simple! All you have to do is to ask them to send you a screenshot of their current demographics, this way you will know more about their followers, what gender they are, what age, and from which country. Even tho Influencers shoutouts are very cheap compared to Facebook ads, you still want to make sure you are spending your money in the right place and on the right influencers.

If you will take all these precaution steps, you are most likely to make better decisions when it comes to choosing your Instagram influencers and your results will be much better, that I can promise you!
