After hitting few bumps like demonetisation and moving towards BS VI in 2016, the automakers will once again hope to bounce back in 2017 with a pipeline of new car launches scheduled this year.

Here is a look at the best cars which the Indian auto industry will offer.

Maruti Suzuki Ignis

Eleven months after making its Indian premiere at the Auto Expo 2016, the Maruti Suzuki Ignis will be launched officially on January 13. The hatchback, to be sold through Maruti's Nexa outlets, will be priced around Rs 4 lakh.

Maruti Suzuki Baleno RS

With Maruti still playing catch-up with the high demand for Baleno, the launch date of its powerful variant 'Baleno RS' has been pushed into the first half of the 2017.

The Baleno RS will come with a 1.0-litre three cylinder turbocharged petrol engine that churns out 110 bhp and would produce close to 170 Nm of torque - making it Maruti's most powerful hatchback ever. The current variant - which has already crossed the 1 lakh sales mark in less than a year -- produces 84 bhp while giving out 115 Nm of torque.

The car is going to cost around Rs 9 lakh

Tata Nexon

Tata disclosed its plans to explore the compact SUV space through the Nexon. The car grabbed a lot of eyeballs at the Indian Auto Expo simply because of its futuristic design.

To add to its appeal, it gets an all-new 1.5-litre diesel motor that will produce 110PS of power and a peak torque of 260Nm.

With the Tata Hexa scheduled for a January launch, the automaker will make Nexon public few months after that, reportedly, in the first half of 2017.

Nexon will takes on the likes of Ford EcoSport.

Tata Hexa

It is anticipated that Tata will launch its latest MPV Hexa this month. Hexa will be the replacement of Aria, which never really took off. Hexa gets the same 2.2-litre engine that came with the Aria, which makes a healthy 154PS of peak power and 400Nm of peak torque.

Hexa may be priced around the Rs 15-lakh mark.

Honda City facelift

Honda City 2017 will firstly be launched in Thailand on January 12. Honda Thailand teased few glimpses of the upcoming sedan recently.

Under the hood though, the new-gen City will have the same characteristics as the current version - the 1.5-litre petrol engine that produces 119PS of power and churns out 145Nm of torque, and the 1.5-litre diesel mill that pumps out 100PS of power and 200Nm of torque.

Hyundai Creta facelift

Hyundai will first launch the facelifted version of Creta in Latin America in early-2017, then it may make its way to the Indian shores mid-2017.

The new Creta will feature a larger hexagonal front grille. In the rear profile, there are slight changes to tail lamps and bumper. Features under the hood are likely to remain the same as the current car.

Toyota Vios

Vios is one of many launches scheduled for the month of March. Vios carries few styling cues from Toyota Etios and even from Corolla Altis.

Expect the Vios to be offered with the 1.5-litre petrol engine and the 1.4-litre diesel engines found in the Etios and Liva. The C segment sedan is likely to be priced around the Rs 8-11 lakh mark making it a worthy opponent for Honda City, Hyundai Verna and Volkswagen Vento.

Volkswagen Tiguan/11
The Indian version of Volkswagen's compact SUV will be equipped with a 2.0-litre diesel engine that churns out 190PS power. And you can also expect a four-wheel drive.

The Volkswagen Tiguan will be priced in the range of Rs 20-25 lakh and will go head on with Toyota Fortuner, Ford Endeavour and Chevrolet Captiva.

Its expected launch is in mid-2017.

Skoda Kodiaq

Skoda's full size SUV - Kodiaq, is expected to be launched in the second half of 2017. The Kodiaq will be available in both 5-seater and 7-seater options.

Based on the Vision S concept which was first showcased at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show, the Kodiaq will take on the likes of Toyota Fortuner, the Ford Endeavour and the Chevrolet Trailblazer.

With new Ford Endeavour and next-generation Fortuner already in the market, one can safely say that the tussle of full-sized SUVs has already started. Skoda is likely to attach a premium price tag to Kodiaq - somewhere in the range of Rs 25 - 30 lakh, depending on the variant.
