Mary Stuart & Lord Darnley | Kingdom Fall

Hi all. This is a project I started well over a year ago right after I finished watching Reign for the first time. I was still new to vidding then and so I really struggled with how to tell the story of these two characters in such a short time frame. The initial project that I started in October 2020 I completely scrapped after it was near completion, since I felt I failed to replicate the vision I had in my head for the story I wanted to tell. I tried editing it a second time and scrapped that project as well. It wasn't until a few days ago when I wanted to vid something to take my mind off some things that I decided to revisit this idea from scratch for a third time.

It's not perfect. There's so much I left out for sake of time, but overall I'm pretty happy with this one. Most of you probably weren't watching my vids during my Reign phase (except for you Dep 😉), but for a time I was literally obsessed with the tumultuous dynamic between Mary and Darnley and how they each tried to find love again with each other that only proved disastrous because of their respective political ambitions. That is the story I tried my best to tell here. I chose the song Kingdom Fall of course because that is the song that plays while they are wed in the show. It's probably my all time favorite musical moment in the show and I feel the lyrics just capture them so perfectly that I could not resist using it for a tribute vid to their relationship. I hope you enjoy.

One last thing. When I watched Reign I was very much a frary shipper, but once I reached season four, I have to admit (please don't hate me) the story of Mary and Darnley might actually compel me more than that of Mary and Francis, as I'm always one for relationships that are doomed because of each character's own self-destructive tendencies. So the reason I say this, please don't hate on Darnley too much in the comments, because honestly I love him as a character. (And please don't hate me for saying that. 😅) Though of course Francis is and will always be Mary's true love in the show.

With that said, thank you all so much for watching! And Dep, if you're reading this, I finally completed the vid you've basically been begging me to since the end of 2020. I'm so sorry that this is so belated. I probably would have finished it much sooner if not for me starting my Supernatural rewatch at the beginning of 2021 and getting very much sidetracked with making vids for that show. 😅 Thanks as always for your support, my friend.
