In this video tutorial, I will show you how to set up Fabfilter's Pro-Q 3 to analyze and show frequency masking issues between multiple channels in your mix!

One of the coolest new features in Fabfitler's Pro-Q 3 is the ability for cross-channel linking between multiple instances of the Pro-Q 3. Now, not only can you see all the channels in mini spectrums in the Pro-Q 3, you can also overlay any two in the main large spectrum to visually see where there might be issues. Now, not only that, but the Pro-Q 3 will actually highlight frequency ranges that might present mixing issues!

What's more? Setting all of this up is incredible easy! Simply drop Pro-Q 3 onto any channels that you want and then hit the button next the word "Analyzer" at the bottom of the plugin. The button itself should say "Pre + Post" by default. Next, double-click the word "Pro-Q" at the top of the fly-out panel and rename the instance of the Pro-Q 3 to something relevant. You should do this for each instance of the Pro-Q 3 that you have in your mix.

Pro-Q 3 will automatically show you the mini-spectrums of any other instances of itself in your project in that panel.

If you want to overlay any one of the mini-specturms over the currently launched Pro-Q 3's main spectrum, just select it from the list.

Both the main spectrum and the mini-spectrums will highlight possible frequency masking (collisions) between any of the channels by glowing red in the frequency ranges you should pay attention to. This is another great new feature for an already incredible digital EQ!
