The Situation Reaction Test (SRT) is a core psychological assessment in the SSB interview designed to evaluate a candidate’s natural responses to challenging and real-life scenarios. For girl candidates, this test is an excellent platform to showcase quick decision-making, emotional stability, resourcefulness, and leadership traits — all essential Officer-Like Qualities (OLQs).

In SRT, a candidate is given 60 short situations depicting everyday challenges, emergencies, social obligations, and professional dilemmas. Each situation demands a written response that reflects the candidate’s ability to act under pressure with clarity and confidence. For example, if the situation is: “She is new to the unit and feels ignored,” an ideal response could be: “She starts interacting with everyone and volunteers for tasks.” This reflects initiative, adaptability, and social effectiveness.

For example, if faced with an accident scenario, an effective response could be: “She gives first aid and arranges help immediately.” Such answers show presence of mind, problem-solving, and care for others — vital traits for a future officer.

The SRT does not test language or grammar; it assesses personality, thinking speed, and consistency with OLQs across other tests. Practicing with a variety of real-life scenarios is crucial for success. By approaching each situation confidently and logically, girl candidates can strongly communicate their suitability for leadership roles in the Armed Forces.
