Visiting Universal Orlando Resort this summer, here’s some tips and tricks specifically for the summer months.
Hey what’s going on everybody, Rick here, coming at you with another Universal Orlando video.
Summer is a busy, hot and sometimes wet time here at the theme parks, let’s talk about how to deal with it all and make the most of your summer vacation.
There is often an afternoon rain shower that passes through, and for that reason I would recommend starting your day at IOA and saving USF for later.
The reason for that is that IOA has more outdoor rides so you want to do those before the afternoon rain.
On the contrary, USF has indoor attractions, only a couple of outdoor rides. The only outdoor attractions are RRR and the Twirl and Hurl.
Therefore, the afternoon rain does not have a big effect on what you can do.
Now to get in between attractions you may have to walk in the rain, so you may want to have ponchos with you.
If you prefer umbrellas, those are options as well.
Personally, I find large umbrellas more cumbersome to deal with and prefer the ones that are small enough to in the lockers.
Also, ponchos can be removed and stuffed away more easily than large umbrellas.
I would recommend bringing at least two pairs of shoes. That way if one pair gets wet, you have another, dry pair to wear the next day as the first pair dry.
Seeing a show such as the Bourne Stuntacular or the Horror Makeup Show is a good way to escape the summer rain AND the summer heat.
And speaking of the heat, here are some ways to deal with it.
At Islands of Adventure you can always cool off with a water ride such as Ripsaw Falls, Popeyes and the Jurassic Park River Adventure.
You don’t even have to ride Jurassic Park River Adventure; you don’t even have to ride you can just stand in the splash zone.
How about that…one minute I’m telling you to avoid getting wet, then the next I’m telling you HOW to get wet.
When it comes to the heat and sun I would advise you wear a hat for protection and wear sun screen.
If you forget to bring sun screen, don’t worry, most of the store in the park sells it.
This is VERY important your first day here.
You do NOT want to get a sun burn on your first day here…that pain could last your entire vacation.
It does NOT make a good base for a tan.
When it comes to air conditioning, there are an attraction or two I’d like to call out for having the best cool air in the parks.
The Bourne Stuntacular and MIB Alien Attack.
The MIB queue, ride and gift shop has the coolest air conditioning.
If you’re in the Diagon Alley, step inside of Knockturn Alley. It’s always cool in there.
If you feel like you want a longer break from the heat. I suggest a nicer restaurant, not a quick service one.
The quick service ones tend to have equal parts indoor and outdoor seating. Some only have outdoor seating.
And seating outdoors, even in the shade, is not the best you can do to escape the heat.
Choose a table service restaurant.
At Islands of Adventure, I’d recommend Mythos and Confisco.
The counter services options with the best indoor seating would be Circus McGerus, Three Broomsticks, Thunder Falls, Captain American Diner and the Café 4.
At Universal Studios Florida, the table services options are Finnegans, and Lombards.
Counter Services places with best indoor seating (with the best AC) would be…Fast Food Blvd in SpringField, The Leaky Cauldron and Mel’s Drive In.
There are places with indoor seating, like Louie’s pizza, but they never seem to be too cool inside.
How about cooling yourself from the inside out with some frozen drinks.
In springfield you can get a squishee.
And there are several icee stations throughout both parks.
If you purchase the coke freestyle refillable cups, they are not just for sodas, they are also good for icee refills.
And in the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, summer time is a great time for a frozen butter beer.
But the best help with your summertime Universal Orlando vacation is to stay hydrated with good old fashion water.
And you do not have to keep buying $6.00 waters.
The coke freestyle machines dispense water for free.
On this channel we like to rickcommend, bringing your own collapsible.
They are a quick and easy way to get water from the coke free style machines.
I will leave an affiliate link to these bad boys, so you can bring them here on your next vacation, whether it be summertime or not.
