I just wrapped up our first camping trip of the 2025 season, and what a fantastic experience it was at Murray Beach Provincial Park in New Brunswick. Situated on the shores of the Northumberland Strait, this park offers breathtaking views that stretch to the iconic Confederation Bridge and the lush landscapes of Prince Edward Island. It's truly a gem for anyone who combines natural beauty with adventure.

The week we spent there was pleasant, primarily, though Tuesday brought a bit of a heatwave with temperatures soaring to 32°C. It was a warm day for camping, but the ocean breeze helped keep things comfortable. Over two nights, we also braved some pretty gusty winds rolling in off the ocean. Despite the blustery conditions, our campsite held up well, and the sound of the wind mixed with the waves only added to the coastal atmosphere.

One of the trip's highlights was bringing along my portable ham radio setup. I combined my love of camping with serious radio communication from this stunning location. Using my Buddipole antenna, FT891 radio, and RMItaly HLA300 portable amplifier, I operated both SSB and digital modes throughout the week. The area on the Northumberland Strait helped with signal propagation, and I was thrilled to make over 500 contacts during the week. It was a rewarding experience to connect with fellow radio enthusiasts from such a beautiful and serene spot.

Murray Beach Provincial Park is more than just a campground; it's a place that offers a perfect blend of nature, relaxation, and hobbyist opportunities like ham radio.
