LONG TERM REVIEW: SABFOIL TORPEDO MID LENGTH WING & SUP FOIL BOARD

Описание к видео LONG TERM REVIEW: SABFOIL TORPEDO MID LENGTH WING & SUP FOIL BOARD

An honest and unpaid in depth review of the SABFOIL TORPEDO mid length wing and SUP foil board shaped by Max Galtarossa. I am making this long term review after 6 months of constant use in various disciplines and conditions. I took the board out for light wind winging, SUP foiling, flatwater paddle ups, downwind sessions, using a Foil Drive Gen 2 and even dockstarting it. After more than 50 hours of use I do have to say, it works in almost every discipline and condition.

WINGING / LIGHT WIND WINGING
Winging and light wind winging is where the Sabfoil Torpedo really shines. The shape with the Kalama inspired tail is very fast and helps to generate a lot of speed with just a few pumps. I could get up in roughly 6-8 knots of wind using only a 4.3 m2 wing. Even when the wind picked up and I could have gone for a much smaller board I stilled enjoyed riding the Sabfoil Torpedo. Once I was up on foil the mid lenght felt a lot smaller and had a really surfy fell to it.

SUP FOIL / FLATWATER PADDLE UPS / DOWNWIND
The Sabfoil Torpedo allows you to a certain amount to cross disciplines. It works very well as a SUP foil board and is perfectly suited for small waves where you might struggle with a longer board. Because of the fast shape it is fairly easy to paddle up on flat water and even in basic downwind conditions is making a good figure. If flatwater paddle ups or open ocean swell downwind is everything you are longing for, there might be better board options but if you consider to do some winging as well, the Sabfoil Torpedo has you covered pretty well.

SABFOIL TORPEDO + FOIL DRIVE GEN 2
For some reason the Sabfoil Torpedo and the Foil Drive Gen 2 are not a good team. In combination the mid length board tends to pull into one direction on touch downs. It's not a deal breaker and once you get used to it you can still make it work, but if you are after a mid length board dedicated to foil driving, there are probably better options.

CONCLUSION
Every board is making a few compromises and the Sabfoil Torpedo is no exception, but Sabfoil and Max Galtarossa managed to find a very sweet selection that makes up for an almost perfect quiver killer. If you are looking for a mid length board to cover your freeride winging, light wind winging, SUP foiling and even some flatwater action and first steps in downwinding the Sabfoil Torpedo is a pretty good choice and you should definitely give it a try.
