Statements from local officials were immediate Wednesday in the wake of an announcement that Sundance Film Festival was entertaining a possible scene change when its contract with Park City was up.

Festival organizers on April 17 stated they were launching a Request for Information process, opening the door for other cities to put in a bid for the festival - and its revenue-generating, star-studded spoils.

"With our current contract with Park City up for renewal, the RFI/RFP process will allow the Institute to evaluate, consider, and build on the foundation for an inclusive Festival for a growing global independent creative community," according to a statement from The Sundance Institute.
