In this Conversations from the Heart episode, Daniela speaks with Mary Adams: Mary met Andrew in 1986 at the beginning of his teaching career and traversed the arc of his teaching and community, EnlightenNext, until its demise in 2013.
Having studied Indian philosophy and language, she lived in India for 7 years meeting various spiritual teachers & doing extensive practice. Trained in psychotherapy, she was a founding member of Gaia House International Meditation Centre before meeting Andrew. A meeting that changed her life. In the intentional community that grew up around him she worked in the field of collective intelligence, co-pioneering and facilitating groups in inter-subjective dialogue practices, meditation and inquiry, including programs dedicated to women’s development & leadership. The dramatic demise of this organisation and its controversial history proved a profound learning experience.
Currently living in London, Mary has continued the work of exploring consciousness and the core drivers of culture. She is co-director & trustee of Emergence Foundation, supporting innovative, consciousness-based social and environmental projects across the UK and Europe. In 2019 she co-founded 3rd-Space, an online publishing forum that challenges dominant materialist ideologies by profiling thinkers, activists, spiritual innovators, and community leaders forging a paradigm based on unitive principles. Through writing, interviews, intercultural dialogue, and non-violent civil disobedience, she works within a global network committed to a paradigm shift in the cultural assumptions that underpin the metacrisis we face today.
