SYNOPSIS
In a future dumbed down by next-day-delivery, the conglomerate Nefaricorp (Ravi Patel, Dean Shortland, Tamiko Robinson Steele, Steve Byrne) dominates human existence through high tech, great deals, and free delivery. Their development of cloning technology has replaced workers around the globe with Replicants, including the police. These 'Clone Cops' are manufactured in a lab (Henry Haggard, Rashad Rayford) and programmed to kill or die trying. When the the leader (Laura Holloway) of a gang of outlaws is shot during a struggle with a Clone Cop (Phillip Cordell), the rest of the gang (Ted Welch, Quinnlan Ashe, Allison Shrum, Schyler Tillett) must decide whether to flee or rally around their critically wounded Boss and their besieged hideout using their unique skillsets.
CONVERSATION
There are so many different components that make up a film, so when you watch a movie that nails all of them, that's huge. Especially when it's the first feature joint the crew have made. And people, that's the case with new indie fountainhead....'Clone Cops'!!!
Scheduling these things can really be a dance, but Justin Cook got it to work, so we were able to break bread with, not just the director Danny Dones, or his co-writer Phillip Cordell, BUT also their cinematographer Corey Allen!!!
There's so much happening in this film to keep the viewer transfixed, so being able to speak with Danny, Philip & Corey about how they kept everything aligned. The steps they took to differentiate the elements of the story, it was all fascinating.
What’s really refreshing is the fact that they knew not everyone will dig a story. So their benchmark was themselves. Many people may say this, but Danny, Philip & Corey embody it.
We also hear bout their ethos on self promotion, which is remarkable. They really have put in the grind to ensure ‘Clone Cops’ has got the best chance to breathe & flourish. Which is a good job, as Philip revealed there’s a potential ‘Part Two’ and ‘Three’ ready if the appetite is there. So enjoy the back & forth and then go check out the film!!!!
