I’m not at all sure who made these Melofonic-branded faux-resonator guitars because they’re rather unlike anything else on the market at the time. They share some features, design styles, measurements, and scale length details with some instruments made out of the Oscar Schmidt (and, in the late ‘30s, United) factory, but also have bar frets and slightly-unusual hardware. This one has been completely done-over with a neck reset, crack repairs, fretwork, a new bridge, and a bunch of good setup work which has yielded a perfectly-playable, bluesy, loud, snappy little instrument…
