Britten’s Ballad of Heroes was his first work of success with a political background: the International Brigades during Spanish Civil War. Here, Britten used some previous melodic material and refashioned perfectly to fit the settings of political poems by Randall Swingler and W.H. Auden.

La Balada de los Héroes de Benjamin Britten fue su primer éxito con temas políticos: la participación de las Brigadas Internacionales durante la Guerra Civil Española. Aquí, Britten recicla material musical antiguo y lo reutiliza perfectamente para ajustar los poemas políticos de Randall Swingler y W.H. Auden a la música.
