In this episode we take it back to May of 2020 when I was finally able to convince my wife we needed to build a tiny home in our backyard. Well, maybe not a tiny home, since it lacks proper plumbing and bathroom facilities. However, this backyard shed had all the modern finishings to make it feel like a modern living space and became the perfect work-from-home office I needed during the COVID 19 lockdown. Come along as I turn this simple 10’ x 12’ storage shed into a versatile space that would ultimately become home to many of our personal possessions after we decided to leave the country for a few years.

The construction of our shed came at the tail end of our kitchen remodel, which is why I hired my general contractor to complete the framing. Although I felt I had the competence to do the whole thing myself, I wanted to ensure the longevity of this investment while also completing the project in a timely manner.

Although the budget has been included below, this project was completed in May of 2020 when material costs were significantly lower. Don't put off your project until tomorrow, the cost of EVERYTHING always goes UP!

Tiny Home Budget:
$4750 - Contractor (Foundation, Framing, Siding, Doors & Windows)
$675 - Deck, stain & hardware
$375 - Electrical, outlets, switches & light fixtures
$350 - Laminate flooring & baseboards
$125 - Paint
