What is the Lotus Sutra? Myokei Caine-Barrett, Shonin explains the history, relevance, and tools for practicing with this foundational sutra. She says, “One of the reasons that the Lotus Sutra is so important is because it is one of the early sutras to say that all beings could achieve that same enlightenment as the Buddha.”

Myokei Caine-Barrett, Shonin is the first woman and the first Westerner to hold the position of bishop in the Nichiren Order of North America. She is the resident priest of the Myoken-ji Temple in Houston, Texas.
