Uruguay holds closing campaigns prior to Sunday's elections

(24 Oct 2019) Thousands of Uruguayans preparing to vote for their next president gathered at the closing campaign rallies for their respective candidates Wednesday.
The front running candidates, Daniel Martinez from the Frente Amplio (Broad Front) party and Luis Lacalle Pou held large rallies and spoke to their supporters in Montevideo.
There are a total of eleven candidates vying for the position.
In order so as not to have to hold a second round election to be held November 24,one candidate must secure over 50% of the votes, with polls indicating that there will indeed be a second round with the tope two candidates Martinez and Pou.
Elections are to be held this coming Sunday, October 27 for the positions of President, Vice President and members of Congress.
