Six Great Lakes Folk Songs for two bass clarinets

From the program notes:
Here we see a mixture of two elements that are of utmost importance to my work as a composer, and as a musician. I would consider myself first and foremost a bass clarinetist. It is my first love of music, and was a connection that inspired me to continue in music at a time when I was losing interest. Since then, I’ve spent days working on and learning about the instrument, and I am very proud to add to the limited repertoire currently available for the instrument.
With that, we see in these duets my focus for the last few years - the folk music of the Great Lakes region. I’ve been fascinated with the music of the common person that developed and grew here as the land became what we know it as today, and I wanted to pay homage to that in these six duets. Each duet sets a different folk song
1. Sing Lay the Lily Low
2. One Ship Drives East
3. The Little Log Cabin by the Stream
4. When this Cruel War is Over
5. At un a wrendy weddi'r gwan
6. The Jam on Gerry’s Rock

Premiered 4-14-24 at Dudley Birder Hall, St. Norbert College
Nick Waroff & Austin Kobylarczyk, Bass Clarinets
