Review of my Schecter Omen 8 string guitar. Have had this guitar for a couple of years and written a couple of originals with this beauty. Great quality built guitar. This is my second eighth string. My first was a Harley Benton R458 on which I upgraded the pickups. I went with the Fishman Fluence modern humbuckers which made a huge difference to the Harley Benton. But in the case of this Omen, I found the stock ultra-hot Schecter Diamond Plus pickups were pretty decent.
I found the necklace comfortable with the 26.5" scale and carbon fiber neck reinforcement. The light yet resonant basswood body made the guitar very comfortable and I landed writing quite a few compositions on this beautiful guitar. I really like the fit and finish which makes it look metal! One issue I had with the fan fret Harley Benton was that when I played on the first fret I would keep rubbing my finger on the nut which was nonproductive and I just couldn't get past that. So I guess fan fret guitars are not for me. Also my hands are not that large so the smaller scale length works fine in my case.
