Описание к видео Everything You Need To Know About Goshuins + Japanese Buddhist, Shinto History Through My Collection

Please listen to my sleepy voice as I explain to you everything you need to know about goshuins and as we discuss parts of Japanese history.

In this video, I discuss:
What a goshuincho is — the special notebook used for collecting goshuin (temple and shrine stamps)
The typical price of goshuin
Whether you need separate goshuincho for temples and shrines
The history and cultural background of goshuin
How to respectfully collect goshuin, even if you don't practice Buddhism or Shinto
Additional tips for maintaining your goshuincho

I mention here that you fill in a goshuincho "from the back, like when reading a manga." What I actually meant is that you start from what we consider "the back" in Western books—which is simply the front in traditional Japanese bookbinding. I referenced manga because, for many non-Japanese, that's the most familiar example of reading right to left. Unlike most translated books (which are flipped to Western reading order), translated manga usually keeps the original right-to-left format. So my point was: goshuincho are filled in starting from the right—the traditional Japanese way.

In this collection, I will be showing you goshuins from the following Shinto shrines and Buddhist temples:

1. Naritasan Shinsho-ji (Narita, Chiba)
2. Chiba Shrine Myoken Hongu (Chuo, Chiba)
3. Ejimasugiyaman Shrine (Sumida, Tokyo)
4. Senso-ji (Asakusa, Taito, Tokyo)
5. Nikkozan Rin'noji Temple Sanbutsudo (Sannai, Nikko)
6. Toshogu Shrine (Sannai, Shrine)
7. Toshogu Inner Shrine (Sannai, Shrine)
8. Ganshoin Temple (Obuse, Nagano)
9. Hakone Shrine (Hakone, Kanagawa)
10. Jigenji Temple Osaka or Nozaki Kannon (Mt. Iimori, Daito, Osaka)
11. Namba Yasaka Shrine (Naniwa-ku, Osaka)
12. Fushimi Inari Taisha (Inariyama, Fushimi-ku, Kyoto)
13. Itsukushima Shrine (Miyajima Island, Miyajimacho, Hatsukaichi, Hiroshima)
14. Daigan-ji (Miyajima Island, Miyajimacho, Hatsukaichi, Hiroshima)
15. Isaniwa Shrine (Sakuradanicho, Matsuyama, Ehime)
16. Ishite-ji (Ishite, Matsuyama, Ehime)
