Over the past few years, interest in entrepreneurship has grown across the nation, the state, and the UW campus. The teaching of entrepreneurship has also changed with the addition of new frameworks and approaches to help aspiring entrepreneurs move quickly to de-risk their startup idea and increase the likelihood of their success.

Michelle Somes-Booher has experience in business planning, lean start-up, marketing, financial and operational strategy. In addition to serving as Center Director, she also sees clients and works primarily with established businesses. She assists clients in improving operations, increasing sales, and incorporating sound financial practices as they grow. Her clients have been featured on Shark Tank, The White House Demo Days, WI Governor’s Business Plan Competition, SBA National Showcase and spotlighted in numerous local, state and national publications. Michelle was named the WI SBDC State Star in 2020. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, as well as an MBA from Central Michigan University.

Dan Olszewski teaches the capstone Entrepreneurship WAVE course and was one of the co-founders of the Morgridge Entrepreneurial Bootcamp(MEB) program for UW graduate students in STEM programs. Olszewski currently serves on the board of First Business Bank, Inc. and National Guardian Life Insurance Company. He has previously served on the boards of Parts Now! LLC, Sologear LLC, World Data Products, Inc., Henry Vilas Zoological Society and Wisconsin Public Television. Olszewski graduated from UW-Madison with a bachelor’s degree in Economics and Computer Science, and received an MBA from Harvard.
