Gudibande is a town in Chikkaballapur District in Karnataka. Gudibande Fort was built by a yogi and a local chieftain called Byre Gowda some 400 years ago in the 17th century. It's very scenic from top and you can enjoy the views. The right turn to reach the start of the trek/steps, to take you to the fort is rather obscure and is very narrow. Ask the local people for the entry road. The way to the top is mainly through 500 odd steps, most of which are stones/cemented. Depending on the stamina, it takes about 1 to 2 hours. The steps here are sloped and uneven at many locations, so take care not to slip & fall. Carry some water, snacks/fruits with you as you during your climb. Please keep the place litter free. The Shiva shrine at the top is believed to be one of the 108 Jyotirlingas that Rama established in various parts of India. The Nandi-sthambha in front of the shrine, which stands on a square base, has sculpted stone images of Nandi, Shanmukha and Shiva Linga. Go around the temple, to get a panoramic and breathtaking view. Note: In Google maps, type Gudibanda and it will guide you in the right direction towards the fort.
