I dislike the frosty freezing dark mornings but LOVE winter Stripey Fishing! Super solid and thick at this time of year = extra tasty! The morning started with a chilly -2oC departure, heavy frost and a careful drive on the southern icy roads. We scouted out a few marks but the sounder didn't really read anything too promising. Hooked the odd Stripey here and there over a few hours totalling 3. Lost a definite 4th and potential 5th. Luke caught his first ever. Overall a pretty quite days fishing and pretty hard work with higher winds than predicted early in the morning. Not a lot on the chew, even Gurnard wise. Hooked half dozen Jackass Morwong but ended up with a surprising heavy bag of Stripey fillets due to their extra healthy condition.
New day, new activities; quick little scallop dive. Couple of Gloomy Octopus about; fist size and smaller. Visibility was reasonable but a little green. Water temp 9.7oC and the outside temp, not much warmer.
