Simplicity is the essence of Lightsaber Form I: Shii-Cho.
It seems only fitting to start this series with the Form developed in the age of traditional metal swords, before the advent of the lightsaber.
This Form, consisting of only the most basic attack and parry angles, is the one all younglings are taught to start, but it is seldom practiced beyond that.
Very rarely though, someone will stick with it through all stages of their training, and at that level, these fundamental concepts of cuts, thrusts, blocks, distancing, and most importantly timing, in the hands of a skilled practitioner, will prove just as effective as the newest techniques.
A notable practitioner of Shii-Cho was Jedi Master Kit Fisto.
