The cosmic battle on Battleworld takes unexpected turns as alliances shift and betrayals unfold! While a massive, planet-shaking storm rages, Magneto frees his prisoner, the Wasp. Instead of continuing their fight, he calls a truce, sparking the beginning of an unlikely and complicated romance.

Meanwhile, tensions run high in the heroes' base. Captain America tries to rally the team, but Reed Richards is distracted, worried about his pregnant wife back home, and Thor seems to be actively encouraging the storm. This fragile unity shatters when Spider-Man overhears a shocking plan: the X-Men are defecting! Professor X, believing the other heroes will never trust them, forcibly wipes Spider-Man's mind of the encounter before leading his team to join Magneto.

While Magneto gains new allies, Doctor Doom builds his own army. Annoyed by Magneto's refusal to join him, Doom uses alien technology and the storm's energy to empower two ordinary women, creating the super-strong Titania and the plasma-wielding Volcana. As the storm stops, Doom's new forces launch a devastating surprise attack. Led by the Wrecker, they break into the heroes' headquarters, free the captured villains, and critically injure a powerless Ben Grimm (The Thing). The issue ends with the heroes scattered, overwhelmed, and facing a seemingly hopeless battle.
